What is this, exactly?

Say you are playing a pen-and-paper rpg. You have a sheet containing the basic information for your player character's basic information: name, gender, character stats, inventory and so on. But you'd like your character to be presented with a bit more ooomph. The Vitruvian Character Display fills the same function as the character sheet, but with the added benefit of having a three dimensional figure in the shape of Leonardo Da Vinci's famous Vitruvian Man to visually represent your character.

The Vitruvian Character Display comes with a globular housing that is both decorative and functional. The globe housing comes in two variants - one in which the Vitruvian man can be mounted, but no additional features. And a second variant, which also has five mounting pegs onto which slots can be affixed.

The slots are empty, but you can add weapons or armor models to them to present the character's inventory. Or you can paint fundamental character stats like strength, intelligence, agility et cetera in them. Miniature weapon/armor models are plentiful and can be purchased from any number of tabletop miniature manufacturers. But a suggestion is to get one of the weapon packs published by Sharedog Miniatures. See links at the bottom of this text.

The Vitruvian Character Display can be used to represent player characters of either gender, but is most suitable for a male character. The Vitruvian Man itself is a male model, and the globe housing is adorned with a large Mars symbol - the universal symbol for masculinity - on both the inside and outside.

Finally, the display comes with a base that the globe housing can be mounted onto (to prevent it from just rolling around on your gaming table...). The base is designed in the shape of four knights bearing the globe on their backs, as if they are supporting the world.

Is this display hard to assemble?

There are basic instructions for assembly inclued in the image gallery. Putting the display together is fairly straightforward - there is a Vitruvian Man, a globe, and a base that fits together - plus up to five slots that can be affixed to the mounting pegs on the globe. Note that you also need glue to assemble the display.

What scale of rpg/tabletop miniature game is this display intended to be used for?

Technically, the display isn't intended for any particular scale as it is mostly an accessory. If you are playing a tabletop game you still need a separate model to represent your character on the game board while the Vitruvian Character Display " sits on the sidelines " so to speak.

That being said, if you use the bearers as size reference the displays work best in the 28mm-54mm range. The default size of all model parts when you load them into your slicer software will be roughly 54mm (as in, the bearers are roughly 54mm scale. The Vitruvian Man is substantially larger). If you wish to print the display at a smaller scale you will have to change the size of all model parts manually.
All model parts are fairly robust, but I would probably not recommend that you try to print the display at smaller than 25mm scale.

Which rpgs / tabletop games is this display suitable for?

That's up to you, really. The obvious choices would be Dungeons & Dragons or any of the various War hammer games. But I'm sure you could make it work with Shadowrun, Vampire: Masquerade or just about any other pen-and-paper rpg.

Is this model kit difficult to paint?

How well paint adheres to a printed model depends on the printing material. If you intend to paint the Vitruvian Character Display, you will have to determine the best material for yourself. That being said, all model parts are fairly ergonomic to paint as long as you paint them before assembling the display.

I like the general idea of the display, but I'd like the display to have more slot mounts / I'd like the slot mounts to be positioned differently et cetera. Can you make versions of this model kit with different configurations?

I can pretty much do any kind of reconfiguration you want, assuming you contact me with specific requests.
Some ideas for variants that I already have in the pipeline include:

• A female version of the display. Complete with Vitruvian female, the Venus symbol instead of the Mars symbol on the back, female knight bearers et cetera.
• A variant with additional slots on the back of the globe. So you can just pick it up from off of the base, and turn it around to quickly check on the more secondary stats.
• A cyborg version of the Vitruvian Man - right side human, left side robotic face, torso and limbs. Think the Leonardo Device from the intro of the 1993 game Syndicate.
